That leaves visitors with a choice between hiring a car, renting a bike or booking a guided tour. Car hire in Lanzarote is cheap and the roads are safe and quiet.
But renting a bike is only for the seriously fit as the island mountainous terrain can provide a gruelling workout.

Guided tours of the island are conducted daily by a number of local tour operators and can be booked easily at your hotel or apartment reception desk.

Travelling to Lanzarote without taking in a tour of the Fire Mountain at the Timanfaya National Park is like going to Egypt and ignoring the pyramids. It just ins´t done! As a result the vast majority of tourists take in this incredible sight – created by eruptions hundreds of years ago.

The creations of Cesar Manrique also top most itineraries. As this local artist developed unique visitor attractions such as the Jameos del Agua and the César Manrique Foundation.
